Indigenous Art Program 2021: Hyperlocal

The Indigenous Art Program transforms Brisbane’s streets into an outdoor exhibition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander works. The artworks use engaging places and spaces, including large scale banners, vitrines and projections, in Brisbane’s lane ways, cliff faces and on bridges.

Hyperlocal

In 2020, the pandemic changed our ability to travel and there was a recognisable shift in our appreciation for community resources, home-grown produce, and locally-sourced skills and services.

This year, Brisbane City Council’s vibrant laneways will showcase artworks that are by internationally acclaimed artists from our own backyard.

HYPERLOCAL specifically profiles Brisbane’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and their artworks that have been presented overseas. This collection of works provides a snapshot into the global success of Brisbane City’s Indigenous art sector.
